Although not directly involved in construction, Jack’s involvement in the project’s design and layout underscored his commitment to ensuring safety and efficiency. What sparked your interest in construction and led you to pursue it as a career?
My father, a land surveyor, always instilled in me an interest in the community’s growth where I lived.
Can you share a memorable experience from your early days in the construction industry?
Starting my career in Austin, I was part of the crew that performed the original survey on the property where I eventually purchased my first home.
How do you balance the physical demands of your job with your personal life and hobbies?
I try to integrate them as much as possible.
What's the most challenging project you've worked on, and how did you overcome obstacles
In 2018, I was involved in a 1.6M SF Warehouse project with an 8-month schedule. Despite the challenges, we achieved success.
Do you have any role models or mentors in the construction industry? If so, how have they influenced your career?
Unfortunately, one of my mentors, Ronnie Cupp, passed away recently. He taught me that hard work, dedication, honesty, and loyalty are essential to succeed.
How do you stay updated on new construction techniques, materials, and technologies?
I maintain close relationships with our clients and trade partners.
Can you share a project that you're particularly proud of and explain why it stands out to you?
The project mentioned earlier stands out to me. Despite facing numerous challenges, our team’s collaborative effort made it successful.
What advice would you give to someone considering a career in construction?
If you want to succeed, you must demonstrate your ability to work hard and remain loyal.
